Bring in your existing stock figures (opening stock)

What does this do?

Stock Management starts at zero and normally builds up from deliveries. If your products already carry stock counts you trust, one button copies them in as opening balances so you are not starting from nothing.

How to use it

  1. Make sure each product's Stock quantity (on the product in Products) is right, because that is the figure that will be carried in.
  2. Open the ☰ menu and choose Stock Management. While no stock has been recorded yet, the screen says Stock starts at zero.
  3. Press Import existing product figures as opening stock.
  4. Wait for the message confirming how many products had their opening stock initialised.

Every product carries a simple Stock quantity and a Location. It is the quick figure shown in the Product database and the starting point for opening stock; once Stock Management is in use, the ledger there is the one that moves.

Adjust puts a stock figure right and records why. Add or remove a quantity, or set the count to what you actually found, and the change is posted as a movement with its reason so the history still adds up.

Goods in books stock in by hand when you have no paperwork to scan, or the delivery is simple. Pick the product, say how much arrived and in what, and the till tells you exactly what it will add before you confirm.

Every roll you hold is recorded against the product it belongs to, with its width, length, cost and where it sits. Once it is in, the till can cut from it and Stock Management shows what is left.

Every delivery, sale, cut, correction and return is written to a stock ledger that is never rewritten. Recent stock movements shows the trail, and the cards at the top value what you hold at cost and at retail.

Cut a length from a roll

A cut is made from the till, so the customer's receipt, the roll's remaining length and the offcut are all recorded in one go. Stock Management then shows the shorter roll and lists the offcut as a remnant.
