Set up stock locations (shop, warehouse, van)

What does this do?

Locations are the places stock physically sits. Each roll is held at one, deliveries are booked into one, and the till's roll picker knows which places you would normally cut from.

How to use it

  1. Open the ☰ menu, choose Settings and find 📍 Stock locations.
  2. Press Manage locations (the same list opens from 📍 Locations in Stock Management).
  3. Under Add a location type a name, choose a Type (Trade counter, Warehouse, Storage area, Branch, Van or Fitting team) and add it.
  4. Untick Sell from for somewhere you would not normally cut off, such as a van or a fitting team. Its rolls drop down the picker rather than disappearing.
  5. Use make default on the place deliveries usually land.
  6. To hide a place you no longer use, press Retire. Nothing already recorded against it changes.

Every product carries a simple Stock quantity and a Location. It is the quick figure shown in the Product database and the starting point for opening stock; once Stock Management is in use, the ledger there is the one that moves.

Keep track of rolls, remnants and stock (Stock Management)

Stock Management is the owner's view of everything you physically hold: carpet and vinyl rolls with their remaining length, remnants and offcuts, batches and colours, and where each item is kept. Stock starts at zero and builds up as deliveries are approved; selling or cutting a tracked line moves it out again, so the figures stay true without a stock take.

Stock Management starts at zero and normally builds up from deliveries. If your products already carry stock counts you trust, one button copies them in as opening balances so you are not starting from nothing.
