Add a carpet or vinyl roll to stock

What does this do?

Every roll you hold is recorded against the product it belongs to, with its width, length, cost and where it sits. Once it is in, the till can cut from it and Stock Management shows what is left.

How to use it

  1. Open the ☰ menu and choose Stock Management.
  2. Press Add roll and answer Which product is this roll of? by searching for the carpet or vinyl and tapping it.
  3. Fill in the Roll number and Colour / dye lot from the label on the roll (both optional but worth having).
  4. Enter the Width (m) and Length (m), and the Cost £/m² if you know it.
  5. Choose the Location the roll is kept at, then press Add roll.

Sheet goods are often bought and sold by the whole roll at a different rate from a cut length. Roll pricing holds those figures, and Roll widths records the widths the product comes in.

Cut a length from a roll

A cut is made from the till, so the customer's receipt, the roll's remaining length and the offcut are all recorded in one go. Stock Management then shows the shorter roll and lists the offcut as a remnant.

Edit, move or remove a roll

A mistyped length, a roll entered twice or a roll that has been damaged can all be put right without breaking the stock history. Changes are recorded as movements, never erased.

Set up stock locations (shop, warehouse, van)

Locations are the places stock physically sits. Each roll is held at one, deliveries are booked into one, and the till's roll picker knows which places you would normally cut from.

Book a delivery in (Goods in)

Goods in books stock in by hand when you have no paperwork to scan, or the delivery is simple. Pick the product, say how much arrived and in what, and the till tells you exactly what it will add before you confirm.
