Turn VAT on or off and set the rate

What does this do?

VAT Settings control whether VAT is added to the quote and at what rate. Untick it if you are not registered or the work is zero-rated, and the quote shows plain totals with no VAT line.

How to use it

  1. Go to step 3 · Products & Pricing and scroll to VAT Settings.
  2. Tick or untick Charge VAT on quotes.
  3. Set the VAT Rate (%). 20% is the UK standard rate.
  4. Check the preview box next to it, which shows how the totals will read.
  5. Press Next: Calculate Quote ▶ and carry on. The quote and profit check use the new setting.

Set CIS deduction and the VAT reverse charge on a job

For commercial and subcontract work, tell PlanIt whether the job is under CIS and whether the VAT domestic reverse charge applies. The quote then states the VAT and the CIS deduction the right way round. Leave it off for ordinary domestic jobs.

The Detailed Quote is the customer-facing document built from your estimate: each room with its product and price, then fitting, underlay, floor preparation, uplift and accessories, the net total, VAT and the total. If a deposit is on, it shows the deposit and the balance due on completion.

Customer Quotes

Ask for a deposit on the quote (percentage or fixed)

Payment & Deposit Settings put a deposit on the quote, either a percentage of the total or a fixed sum. With online payments set up, the customer can pay it by card from the quote link without needing an account.

Turn VAT on or off for a sale

One switch decides whether VAT is added to this sale. Use it when a sale genuinely carries no VAT; the default rate lives in Settings.

Making a Sale

Add door bars and other accessories to a quote

Accessories are the extra bits charged as their own quote lines. Door bars are priced each with a quantity; adhesive, plywood and other floor preparation are added on the Floor Preparation tab for just the rooms that need them.
