Ask for a deposit on the quote (percentage or fixed)

What does this do?

Payment & Deposit Settings put a deposit on the quote, either a percentage of the total or a fixed sum. With online payments set up, the customer can pay it by card from the quote link without needing an account.

How to use it

  1. Go to step 3 · Products & Pricing and scroll to Payment & Deposit Settings.
  2. Tick Enable Deposit Request.
  3. Choose the Deposit Type: Percentage (%) or Fixed Amount (£).
  4. Enter the Deposit Amount (for example 25 for 25%, or 200 for £200).
  5. Check the preview box, which shows the deposit the customer will see.
  6. To take card payments, use the online payment setup panel under the divider to connect Stripe. Once connected, the quote gets a Pay Now button automatically.

A deposit on the quote shows the customer what to pay up front and what is left on completion. Choose a percentage or a fixed amount. On a detailed quote it is set in Payment & Deposit Settings; on a manual quote you type it in the manual quote itself.

Take a deposit online

Set the deposit once, then PlanIt asks the customer for it on the quote page and by email, and takes it by card through Stripe. Bank transfers can be marked as received by hand.

Sending Quotes & Getting Paid

Add bank details for deposits

Add your business bank details once and PlanIt shows them to the customer on the acceptance screen, together with the deposit amount and a payment reference. UK accounts use a sort code and account number; Irish and other euro-area accounts use an IBAN.

Let the customer accept the quote online

Every quote has a secure web page where the customer can view it, accept it and pay the deposit by card. Copy the link to send it any way you like, and PlanIt tells you the moment they open, accept or pay.

Sending Quotes & Getting Paid

Request, receive or record a deposit on a job

From the job you can email a deposit request, confirm a bank transfer has arrived, or record the payment on the quote itself so it becomes an invoice showing the amount paid and the balance outstanding.

Add door bars and other accessories to a quote

Accessories are the extra bits charged as their own quote lines. Door bars are priced each with a quantity; adhesive, plywood and other floor preparation are added on the Floor Preparation tab for just the rooms that need them.
