PlanIt Estimating · Adding Rooms & Measurements
Set pile direction, pattern repeat, waste, doors and joins on a room
What does this do?
Under the size fields are the options that shape how a room is cut: which way the pile runs, any pattern repeat, extra waste, how many doors it has, whether joins are allowed and whether offcuts can be used. They feed the roll optimiser and the gripper calculation.
How to use it
- On 2 · Add Rooms, fill in the room's name, size, shape and flooring type.
- Choose Pile Direction: Standard (length), Crossway or Any Direction. Keeping every carpet piece the same way avoids shading.
- Enter the Pattern Repeat in metres if the carpet or vinyl has a pattern. Leave 0 for plain.
- Set the Waste Allowance (%) for this room. It starts at the default from Products & Pricing (usually 10%).
- Enter the Door Count. Each doorway is taken off the gripper length and shows on the fitter sheet.
- Choose a Join Restriction: None, No Joins Allowed, Centre Seam Only or Edge Seams Only.
- Set Allow Offcuts? to Yes — use offcuts or No — fresh roll only, then press ➕ Add Room to Project.
