What does this do?

Roll Width Comparison shows every available roll width for the job with its linear metres, waste percentage and number of seams, so you can see why PlanIt picked one width and check the alternative before you order.

How to use it

  1. Go to step 4 · Calculate Quote and press ▶ Calculate All Rooms.
  2. Look at Roll Width Comparison on the left. Each width is listed with the metres needed, its waste % and its seams, and the winner is marked.
  3. For the room-by-room figures read the Roll Width Comparison — All Rooms table on the right.
  4. Under Visual Roll Plan — Selected Width, press a width button to see how the cuts lay out on that roll.
  5. If you want to order a different width from the one recommended, use Manual Overrides and ▶ Re-calculate.

Force a roll width (only 4m in stock)

Manual Overrides let you tell the optimiser which roll width to use when the supplier only stocks one, or when you want to see the plan on a specific width. Re-calculate and every figure, the cut list and the fitter sheet follow the width you chose.

Reduce waste on a carpet job

Waste Analysis shows the roll area you will buy against the area actually fitted, the waste in m² and as a percentage, and an estimated material and fitting cost. A colour bar tells you at a glance whether the waste is good, moderate or high, so you can try another width before ordering.

Choose the roll width (auto or forced)

Roll goods (carpet, sheet vinyl, safety flooring and sheet LVT) are planned from a roll. By default PlanIt tries every width and picks the one with least waste. If the product only comes in one width, force it so the plan matches what you can actually buy.

The cutting plan is the picture of the roll with every cut drawn on it, plus the cut list in the order the fitter should work. It comes straight from Calculate All Rooms, so it always matches the quote.

Print the fitter sheet

The Fitter Sheet is a print-ready page for the person laying the floor: the customer's address, the roll width and metres, a Material Summary, the roll plan, the Cut Sequence, any Sub-floor Preparation, Fitter Instructions and Offcut Notes. Print it, save it as a PDF, or send it with the job.
