Use offcuts and nest small rooms

What does this do?

Nesting puts two or more rooms side by side across one roll width so one length covers both. Offcut Opportunities lists rooms that fit inside the overhang left by other cuts. Both save material, and both are shown so you and the fitter can see exactly where each piece comes from.

How to use it

  1. Go to step 4 · Calculate Quote and press ▶ Calculate All Rooms.
  2. Open 🧩 Nesting Opportunities. It shows which rooms share a length and the metres saved, or says no nesting was possible for this width.
  3. Look for Offcut Opportunities. Each line names a room and the cut whose overhang it can be taken from.
  4. In Cut List — In Order, cuts taken from waste are tagged OFFCUT so the fitter knows not to open a new length.
  5. To keep a room off offcuts (a lounge you want in one clean piece), set Allow Offcuts? to No — fresh roll only on that room in step 2, or switch on Exclude Offcuts under Manual Overrides for the whole job, then ▶ Re-calculate.

Under the size fields are the options that shape how a room is cut: which way the pile runs, any pattern repeat, extra waste, how many doors it has, whether joins are allowed and whether offcuts can be used. They feed the roll optimiser and the gripper calculation.

The cutting plan is the picture of the roll with every cut drawn on it, plus the cut list in the order the fitter should work. It comes straight from Calculate All Rooms, so it always matches the quote.

Print the fitter sheet

The Fitter Sheet is a print-ready page for the person laying the floor: the customer's address, the roll width and metres, a Material Summary, the roll plan, the Cut Sequence, any Sub-floor Preparation, Fitter Instructions and Offcut Notes. Print it, save it as a PDF, or send it with the job.
