Bulk import rooms from a spreadsheet (CSV)

What does this do?

Paste a list of rooms straight in, one per line, and PlanIt adds them all. Useful for a schedule of rooms from a spreadsheet or a commercial job with dozens of areas.

How to use it

  1. Lay the rooms out with one room per line as Name, Length, Width, Type. For example: Lounge, 4.2, 3.6, carpet.
  2. Use your account's units for the sizes (metres, or feet and inches). The type can be left off and defaults to carpet.
  3. On 2 · Add Rooms, scroll to the Bulk Import card and paste the lines into the box.
  4. Press 📥 Import CSV. A message confirms how many rooms were added.
  5. Check the new cards in Project Rooms and correct any flooring types using the dropdown on each card.

Choose the flooring type for a room

Each room has a flooring type. It decides which product and prices from Products & Pricing the room uses, whether it is planned from a roll or sold in packs, and how it is grouped on the quote.

Switch between metric and imperial

Choose how room sizes and areas are shown throughout PlanIt. This changes the display only: every measurement is stored in metric, the optimiser keeps working in metric, and existing estimates are never altered.

Add stairs (steps, winders and landings)

Add Stairs turns the room form into a stair run. Give it the number of steps and the size of each step and PlanIt works out the carpet needed, including winders, a mid-landing and a bullnose bottom step.
