Switch between metric and imperial

What does this do?

Choose how room sizes and areas are shown throughout PlanIt. This changes the display only: every measurement is stored in metric, the optimiser keeps working in metric, and existing estimates are never altered.

How to use it

  1. Open ⚙️ Settings from the sidebar.
  2. Choose the 📏 Measurement Units tab.
  3. Press Metric — metres, m² or Imperial — yards, yd².
  4. Check How it will look underneath.
  5. Go back to your rooms. In imperial you can type 12', 12ft, 12'6", 12ft 6in, 150in or 12.5ft; a plain number means feet. In metric, type 4.25, 4.25m, 425cm or 4250mm.

Add a room by typing its measurements

Every estimate is built from rooms. Type a room's name, length and width, choose its flooring type and add it to the project. The optimiser, cutting plan and quote all come from this list.

Change VAT / tax rate, currency and country

Pick where you trade and PlanIt sets the currency, tax name, tax rate and date and number formats in one go. Every one of those can be overridden if your business needs something different.

Choose a room shape (L-shape, corridor, landing, irregular)

The Shape box tells PlanIt how the room is laid out so the roll optimiser can plan the cuts. Most rooms are rectangles; L-shapes take a cut-out so the missing corner is not charged for or cut.

See and print the cutting plan (cut list)

The cutting plan is the picture of the roll with every cut drawn on it, plus the cut list in the order the fitter should work. It comes straight from Calculate All Rooms, so it always matches the quote.

Print the fitter sheet

The Fitter Sheet is a print-ready page for the person laying the floor: the customer's address, the roll width and metres, a Material Summary, the roll plan, the Cut Sequence, any Sub-floor Preparation, Fitter Instructions and Offcut Notes. Print it, save it as a PDF, or send it with the job.

Accept updated Terms & Conditions at sign-in

When PlanIt publishes a new version of its terms, you see an Updated Terms & Conditions screen the next time you sign in. Read what changed, agree, and carry on; it takes a few seconds and only happens when the terms actually change.
