Import rooms from a sketch or photo

What does this do?

Photograph your survey sketch or an estate agent's floor plan and PlanIt Scan reads the room names and sizes for you. You check the list, then import the rooms in one go instead of typing each one.

How to use it

  1. On 2 · Add Rooms, press 📷 Sketch / Photo / PDF at the top of the form (or 📷 Import from Sketch or Photo in the AI Floor Plan Import card).
  2. Tap the upload area and take a photo or choose one from your device. A preview appears.
  3. Set Dimension units on sketch if the plan is not in metres: Feet & inches, Centimetres or Millimetres. Auto-detect from sketch is the default.
  4. Press 🔍 Scan with PlanIt Scan and wait a few seconds.
  5. Check each room it found. Adjust any name or size, and untick rooms you do not want.
  6. Press ✅ Import Rooms into Project. If it missed something, press ↻ Re-scan first.

Every estimate is built from rooms. Type a room's name, length and width, choose its flooring type and add it to the project. The optimiser, cutting plan and quote all come from this list.

Speak lets you say a room out loud, for example 'Lounge 4.2 by 3.6 carpet', and PlanIt turns it into a room. Handy when you are on your knees with a tape measure.

Do a site survey with photos

The Site Survey page is where you photograph the existing floor, subfloor, doorways, stairs and access before measuring. Every photo links to the quote and follows it into the job, and you can print a summary PDF.

Customers & Job Details

Edit, delete or clear rooms

Rooms live in the Project Rooms list. You can change a room's flooring type, product and stair details on its card, rotate it, delete it, or clear the whole job to start the next customer.

Add stairs (steps, winders and landings)

Add Stairs turns the room form into a stair run. Give it the number of steps and the size of each step and PlanIt works out the carpet needed, including winders, a mid-landing and a bullnose bottom step.
