Create an estimate

What does this do?

New Estimate takes you through seven numbered steps from the customer's name to the sent quote. Each step saves as you go, so you can stop in a customer's hallway and carry on later.

How to use it

  1. Press New Estimate on Home or at the top of the sidebar.
  2. If you already have work open, PlanIt asks Start a new estimate? This clears the current rooms, customer details and quote. Press OK only if you are done with that job; it is already saved under its quote reference.
  3. Fill in step 1 · Customer Details, then press Next: Add Rooms ▶ at the bottom of the page.
  4. Work through the steps in order. Each page ends with a Next: button (for example Next: Products & Pricing ▶) and ◀ Back if you need to change something.
  5. Steps tick green in the sidebar as you complete them. You can also tap any step in the sidebar to jump straight to it.
  6. Finish at step 7 · Send Quote. The quote is filed under Estimates and Jobs the moment it is generated.

Enter the customer's details (step 1)

Step 1 records who the job is for and where it is. These details flow straight into the quote, the PDF, the customer email and the CRM record, and they save as you type.

Add a room by typing its measurements

Every estimate is built from rooms. Type a room's name, length and width, choose its flooring type and add it to the project. The optimiser, cutting plan and quote all come from this list.

Set the product and prices for each flooring type

Step 3 is where the job gets its money. Every flooring type used on the job has a tab with the product name, your cost, the customer price and the fitting rates. The quote, cutting plan and profit check all read from here.

Calculate the job and find the best roll width

Calculate All Rooms runs the roll optimiser over every room on the job. It tries each roll width, picks the one with the least waste, and produces the cut list, the cutting plan and the fitter sheet in one go.

Find, continue or delete an estimate

Estimates lists every quote that is still open, newest first, so you can pick one up where you left off or look at one you have sent. Accepted quotes move on to Jobs.

Start a new estimate for the next customer

New Estimate clears the workspace (rooms, customer details and quote) so the next quote starts clean. The estimate you were working on is already saved and stays in Estimates.
