Manufacturer and range — who makes it, not just who you buy it from
What does this do?
Supplier is who you buy from — often a wholesaler. Manufacturer is who actually makes it, and range is the collection. Recording all three means the till can find a product by brand, and anything that needs to know what the product IS — product imagery, a visualiser, a supplier feed — has something to go on.
How to use it
- Open Products and add or edit a product.
- Supplier is who you buy it from — Likewise Floors, R&M Wholesale, your local distributor.
- Manufacturer is who makes it — Cormar Carpets, Abingdon Flooring, Karndean. Start typing and the till suggests makers you have used before.
- Range is the collection — Primo Ultra, Sensation Original, Camaro. Same suggestions.
- Save. The product list and the sale screen now show the maker and range instead of only the supplier.
- Search finds them too, so *“have you got any Cormar?”* is answerable at the counter.
