Manufacturer and range — who makes it, not just who you buy it from

What does this do?

Supplier is who you buy from — often a wholesaler. Manufacturer is who actually makes it, and range is the collection. Recording all three means the till can find a product by brand, and anything that needs to know what the product IS — product imagery, a visualiser, a supplier feed — has something to go on.

How to use it

  1. Open Products and add or edit a product.
  2. Supplier is who you buy it from — Likewise Floors, R&M Wholesale, your local distributor.
  3. Manufacturer is who makes it — Cormar Carpets, Abingdon Flooring, Karndean. Start typing and the till suggests makers you have used before.
  4. Range is the collection — Primo Ultra, Sensation Original, Camaro. Same suggestions.
  5. Save. The product list and the sale screen now show the maker and range instead of only the supplier.
  6. Search finds them too, so *“have you got any Cormar?”* is answerable at the counter.
