Set the product and prices for each flooring type

What does this do?

Step 3 is where the job gets its money. Every flooring type used on the job has a tab with the product name, your cost, the customer price and the fitting rates. The quote, cutting plan and profit check all read from here.

How to use it

  1. Open Estimating and go to step 3 · Products & Pricing.
  2. In Pricing by Flooring Type, choose the tab for the type you are pricing: Carpet, Sheet Vinyl, Safety Flooring, Sheet LVT, Laminate, Carpet Tiles, LVT, Matting or Wood.
  3. Type the Product Name. It is shown on the customer quote, so use the name the customer will recognise.
  4. Enter the Cost price per m² (what you pay) and the Retail price per m² (what the customer pays).
  5. Enter the Fitting sell price and Fitting cost price per m².
  6. For Laminate, Carpet Tiles and LVT, enter the Pack Coverage (m²/pack) so PlanIt rounds up to whole packs. Leave it at 0 to price per m².
  7. Repeat for each tab you have rooms for, then press Next: Calculate Quote ▶.

Each flooring type has two fitting rates: what the customer pays per m² and what the fitter costs you per m². The difference is your labour margin, shown on the Profit Check.

The rates you type on Products & Pricing become your standard rates. Every new estimate, on every device in your company, starts from them. You can still change any rate on any job without affecting the standards.

Pick a product from your EPOS catalogue

If you also run PlanIt EPOS, the estimator reads your till's product list live. Pick a product and its name, cost and selling price fill in, with chips showing roll widths and stock. EPOS is the master, so keep prices right on the till and they flow through.

Choose the roll width (auto or forced)

Roll goods (carpet, sheet vinyl, safety flooring and sheet LVT) are planned from a roll. By default PlanIt tries every width and picks the one with least waste. If the product only comes in one width, force it so the plan matches what you can actually buy.

Add underlay to a quote (including a custom underlay)

Each flooring type can carry an underlay, charged per m² over the same area as the flooring. Pick one of the built-in foams or set up a Designer Underlay with your own name, cost and selling price.

Check the profit on a job before you send the quote

Step 6 shows what the job is worth to you: selling price, estimated cost, gross profit and margin. It is for your eyes only and never appears on anything the customer sees.
