Set up your business the first time you open the till

What does this do?

The first time you sign in, a short welcome form collects your business name, default margins and your operator PIN so the till can price products and record who served each customer.

How to use it

  1. Sign in for the first time. The Welcome to PlanIt EPOS window opens. You are the Super Admin for this account.
  2. Type your Business name. If you are VAT registered, add your VAT number and VAT rate %.
  3. Enter a default Trade margin % and Retail margin %. The till uses these to work out selling prices from supplier cost, and you can change them per supplier or product later.
  4. Under the operator section, type Your name and Your 4-digit PIN. You enter this PIN before each sale so the till records who served the customer.
  5. Press Get started. (Or Skip for now and finish in Settings later.)
  6. If you signed in but see Set up your business instead, your login is not attached to a shop yet: type Your business name and press Set up my business.

Add your company details and logo

Your company name, logo and contact details print on every receipt, quote, invoice and statement, and brand the customer portal. Set them once and every till in the shop uses them.

The default VAT rate is applied to new products and sales, and the default trade and retail margins set the selling price of any product you add without typing one. You can also re-apply the margins to every product already in the catalogue.

Add operators and PINs (who is standing at the till)

Each person who serves at the counter gets a name and a 4-digit PIN. They enter it before a sale, so every receipt records who processed it.

Import a supplier price list

Drop a supplier's price list on the till and it turns into products. Tidy Excel or CSV files are read instantly and free; PDFs, photos and scanned brochures are read by AI page by page. Nothing is saved until you review and confirm the preview.

Add or edit a product

Products are what the till sells. Add each one with its supplier, cost and margins and it appears in the product search on the till, on quotes and in stock. Edit it any time from the Product database.
