Refund a sale or issue a credit note

What does this do?

A refund gives money back on a sale that has been paid, in full or in part, and records why. It creates a permanent credit note against the original receipt and puts returned goods back into stock if you tell it to.

How to use it

  1. From the ☰ menu choose History, find the sale and press View.
  2. Press Refund to open Issue refund / credit note.
  3. For each item set Qty to refund. The table shows Sold, Already refunded, Refundable and the Line refund amount. For a goodwill amount instead, use Custom refund amount.
  4. Choose a Reason (for example Faulty product, Customer changed mind, Pricing error, Manager goodwill or Other, which needs a Reason note).
  5. Choose the Refund method: Cash, Card, Bank Transfer, Account Credit or Store Credit. Pick the Operative doing the refund.
  6. Under Returned stock choose Return to sellable stock, Damaged — do not return or No stock change.
  7. Press Confirm refund and confirm. The credit note is filed against the original receipt and cannot be undone.
