Take a deposit online

What does this do?

Set the deposit once, then PlanIt asks the customer for it on the quote page and by email, and takes it by card through Stripe. Bank transfers can be marked as received by hand.

How to use it

  1. Add your payment details first: Settings → 🎨 Company Info / White Label for bank details, and your Stripe link if you want card payments.
  2. Open step 7 · Send Quote and press Set Up Deposit. PlanIt takes you to Payment & Deposit Settings on step 3.
  3. Choose Deposit Type (Percentage % or Fixed Amount), enter the Deposit Amount, paste your Stripe Payment Link and press 💾 Save payment setup.
  4. Send the quote by email, WhatsApp or the quote link. The customer accepts online and pays the deposit by card on the same page.
  5. Once the customer has accepted, you can also press 💳 Request deposit on the job in Jobs. PlanIt emails a deposit request with the amount, the balance due and a pay button.
  6. When the deposit is paid, the bell notifies you and the job moves to Deposit Paid. If it arrives by bank transfer instead, press 🏦 Mark deposit received on the job.

Ask for a deposit on a quote

A deposit on the quote shows the customer what to pay up front and what is left on completion. Choose a percentage or a fixed amount. On a detailed quote it is set in Payment & Deposit Settings; on a manual quote you type it in the manual quote itself.

Add bank details for deposits

Add your business bank details once and PlanIt shows them to the customer on the acceptance screen, together with the deposit amount and a payment reference. UK accounts use a sort code and account number; Irish and other euro-area accounts use an IBAN.

From the job you can email a deposit request, confirm a bank transfer has arrived, or record the payment on the quote itself so it becomes an invoice showing the amount paid and the balance outstanding.

Let the customer accept the quote online

Every quote has a secure web page where the customer can view it, accept it and pay the deposit by card. Copy the link to send it any way you like, and PlanIt tells you the moment they open, accept or pay.

Sending Quotes & Getting Paid

Turn on notifications for opened, accepted and paid quotes

The bell in the top bar tells you when a customer opens a quote, accepts it or pays a deposit. Turn on push notifications and your phone is told the moment it happens, even with PlanIt closed.

Take part of the money now, set when the rest is due, and the till tracks the balance until it is paid.
