Messages from customers through the portal

This guide is awaiting review — the steps may change.

What does this do?

Customers can send a short message to the shop from inside the portal, and the portal writes a message for them when they report a bank transfer or pay by card. Messages are kept against the customer's account.

How to use it

  1. What your customer does: they open Messages in the portal. Earlier messages appear as a conversation.
  2. They type in the Message the trade counter… box and press Send (or press Enter).
  3. The portal also adds a message on their behalf when they press I've made a payment ("Customer reports bank transfer of £…") and when a card payment goes through.
  4. Messages are stored against the customer's portal account. The till does not have a screen for reading them yet, so for anything urgent ask customers to phone or email the shop as well.
