Paste a bill from Excel

What does this do?

Copy the bill straight out of the contractor's spreadsheet and paste it into the bill workspace. PlanIt guesses which column is the reference, description, quantity and unit, and you can remap any of them before importing.

How to use it

  1. In Excel, select the bill rows (including the header row if there is one) and copy them.
  2. In PlanIt, open the tender's bill and press 📥 Paste bill….
  3. Paste into the box. A live preview appears with a guessed mapping for ref, description, qty and unit.
  4. If a column is wrong, change its role in the preview. Each column plays one role and Description must be mapped.
  5. If the top row is column titles, tick First row is headers so it is skipped.
  6. Press Import. Items land in the bill as sections and rows, ready for rates and build-ups.

Import a product CSV

Import a CSV exported from PlanIt EPOS to use as your product catalogue in the estimator. It is the fallback for when you would rather not pull live from the till, and works the same once loaded.

Check profit per option and pick the winner

The Profit check page is for your eyes only. It lists sell, cost, profit and margin for every option, marks the best margin, and shows the differences against the baseline. It has no client view and is never included in a tender document.

The Compare tab puts every live option in one table: specification, quantities and pricing, with the difference against the baseline. An internal view adds cost, margin and waste; a client view leaves them out entirely.

Price a bill of quantities item by item

When the contractor sends a bill to rate, price it in the bill workspace instead of measuring rooms. Every item gets a build-up (materials, labour, waste, overhead and margin behind the rate) and a rate card supplies default rates by item type, so each rate can be justified line by line.
