Set the till up in an afternoon — products in, PINs set, first sale rung through.

PlanIt EPOS
Getting started guide
Welcome to PlanIt. This page takes you from a fresh account to your first sale rung through the till. Do the setup steps in order — products and prices first, then people, then the counter — and you'll be trading on it the same day.
PART 1 · SET UP THE SHOP
1
Sign in and confirm your email
Open epos.planitflooring.com on the till (any modern browser on a PC, Mac, tablet or iPad). If your account is brand new, click the confirmation link we email you first — check your junk or spam folder if it hasn't arrived. One PlanIt login works across all our apps.
2
Set up the business in Settings
Open the menu (top left) and go to Settings. Add your company details and logo, your tax number and default tax rate, your country and region (this sets currency and tax together), your receipt footer and your terms & conditions. Everything you print or email from the till carries this, so it's worth two careful minutes now.
3
Get your products in
Two ways, use either or both:
• Price Sheet Import — drop in any supplier price list. A tidy CSV parses locally for free; a PDF or brochure can be read with AI. You always see a preview before anything saves.
• Products screen — add items by hand: cost, trade and retail prices, tax rate, roll widths, barcode, photo. The margins can come from per-supplier defaults you set on the Suppliers screen.
Tip: fill in “What the supplier calls it” on your key lines — then a delivery note matches your product even when the supplier uses a different name.
4
Add your people
Two different things, both quick:
• Users (on the menu) — invite colleagues by email as Super Admin (everything) or Staff (till and payments, but no product or settings changes).
• Operators & PINs (in Settings) — who's standing at the counter. Each operator gets a 4-digit PIN entered before a sale, so every sale records who processed it.
If you use fitters, add them under Settings → Fitting teams and Settings → Fitters — invited fitters get their own phone app showing their jobs, and their notes and photos come straight back to the till.
5
Add your payment details
In Settings → Customer payments, add your bank details (UK sort code and account number, or IBAN/BIC) and connect Stripe if you want customers to pay invoices online by card. These appear on your invoices, quotes and statements automatically.
PART 2 · YOUR FIRST SALE
1.Open the day. From the menu choose Cash Up and open a session with your float. The till then tracks every payment against it.
2.Build the basket. On the Sale screen, search or tap products. Quick Sale Item handles a one-off that isn't in the catalogue; Cut from Roll sells a length off a roll and records the remnant.
3.Add the customer if it's a fitted job. Pop in their details and a fitting date — the job lands in the Diary automatically. Counter sales don't need any of this.
4.Take the payment. Cash, card, bank transfer, finance or deposit — or put it on a trade account. Then print the receipt or email it with the PDF attached.
5.Close the day. Back in Cash Up, count the drawer, check the variance, and Close day & print Z.
From there the rest of the till opens up as you need it: Quotes (customers accept online and an accepted quote converts straight to an invoice), Customer Orders for flooring awaiting a fitting date, the Diary for surveys and fittings, Accounts for trade customers with statements and a customer portal, Stock for rolls, remnants and goods in, and Reports for the numbers.
WORTH KNOWING
It works offline. Install it as an app (“Add to Home Screen” or “Install” in the browser menu) and the till keeps trading through an internet outage, syncing when it reconnects.
Two tills, one shop. Cloud sync keeps products, prices and settings the same on every till, and backs everything up.
Nothing is ever lost. History keeps every sale — reprint, email, refund or void from there. Deleting is soft, reversible and logged.
Stuck? Ask PlanIt. The chat button in the bottom corner of the till knows every screen and will point you to the right place.
